As both the US Army and US Marine Corps continue to expand their fielding of the new Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV), service planners are exploring an expansion of JLTV airdrop capabilities.

The latest exploration of JLTV airdrop was outlined in a 12 August 2019 ‘sources sought’ announcement released by the US Army’s Combat Capabilities Development Command Soldier Center (CDDC SC).

The announcement seeks industry information regarding ‘an airdrop system or components to support the ability to airdrop JLTV trucks using the C-17 logistics rails, in a similar fashion as the Dual Row Airdrop System (DRAS)’.
