Ka-62 certification trials to commence in 2018
Russian Helicopters will commence certification trials of the Ka-62 helicopter in early 2018, the company announced on 6 September.
The trials are expected to be completed within two years.
Two flight models of the Ka-62 have been produced, with the first having undergone in-plant tests in May 2017. During the testing, the helicopter performed the first circuit-circling at 110km/h for 15 minutes. The aircraft's overall operating performance, main energy supply systems, airborne equipment and power unit have also been tested.
A third flight model is scheduled for development in 2018.
The Ka-62 helicopter is designed for the passenger transport, off-shore works, emergency medical aid, search and rescue, transport of cargo inside the cabin and as suspended load, patrol and environmental monitoring. The high power loading of its engines enables the helicopter to carry out search and rescue and evacuation operations in mountainous areas.
