The Japan Coast Guard (JCG) has placed an order with Airbus Helicopters for one H225 helicopter, Airbus announced on 25 April.

The JCG currently operates three AS332 and five H225 aircraft. The new order will increase the JCG’s Super Puma fleet to 13 units by March 2021, making it the largest Super Puma operator in Japan.

The new H225 will join the rest of the fleet in security enforcement, territorial coastal activities, as well as disaster relief missions in the country.

The 11-ton category twin-turbine H225 can accommodate up to 19 passengers.
