Avera Careflight receives H145 from Metro Aviation

Metro Aviation has completed and delivered an H145 helicopter to Avera Careflight in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the company announced on13 June.

The aircraft is Avera's first H145 and will be equipped with Outerlink’s IRIS system for satellite tracking, push-to-talk radio, flight data monitoring and voice and video recording.

Avera Careflight provides medical transport services in the areas nearby its bases in Sioux Falls, Aberdeen and Pierre, South Dakota, as well as throughout the Upper Midwest.

By the end of 2018, Avera will have received one more refurbished aircraft completed by Metro to bring its Sioux Falls-based fleet to two EC145 C2s, one H145 and two Pilatus PC-12 fixed wing aircraft. 

Jeff Musilek, director of maintenance for Careflight at Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center in Sioux Falls, said: ‘Metro has been a partner of ours for several years. We received our first aircraft from Metro in 2008. People who see our aircraft have been impressed by the workmanship.’
