Embraer’s KC-390 transport aircraft has arrived in the US for flight trials as part of its certification programme, the company announced on 21 November.

The aircraft will perform testing of the avionics systems, measurement of external noise and operations with cross wind, for the next two to three weeks at Embraer´s facility in Jacksonville, Florida.

Since the commencement of the flight test campaign in October 2015, both KC-390 prototypes have demonstrated high rates of availability, accumulating over 1,450 flight hours.

Initial Operational Capability is expected to be achieved by the end of 2017, and first delivery will take place in 2018.

Jackson Schneider, president and CEO of Embraer Defense and Security, said: ‘The KC-390 sets new standards in the market and the flight test campaign is progressing well matching the aircraft design goals.

‘We are very satisfied with the maturity that this product has already reached and fully confident that its certification will be achieved as scheduled.’
