Calian Group has received a contract renewal worth up to $20 million to support the Royal Canadian Air Force's (RCAF) Airworthiness Program through to 2019, the company announced on 5 April.

The programme includes the review, analysis and testing of new and modernised aircraft to ensure Canada’s military fleet flies safely and effectively.

The contract will see Calian provide professional airworthiness, engineering and programme support services in areas including mechanical engineering, propulsion, electrical engineering, weapons safety and cybersecurity.

The company has partnered with Valcom Consulting Group to deliver the services.

Donald Whitty, VP, Calian Training, said: ‘We are honoured to continue providing these critical safety and security services to Canada’s military aircraft fleet. We have been providing this support to the Airworthiness Program for 24 years, which goes far beyond technical reviews and flight test reports. We are protecting flight systems from cyber threats and providing critical security services for weapons, communications and computer systems.’

The airworthiness services are critical to flight safety and operational readiness for aircraft such as the C295W, CH-148 Cyclone, CP-140 Aurora, CH-146 Griffon, CH-147 Chinook, CH-149 Cormorant, CC-130 Hercules and CF-118 Hornet.
