Japan's military is lagging in terms of its digitisation, but a smart base experiment could begin to turn the tide.
Brazilian Army selects maintenance partner for Guarani
Iveco Defence Vehicles is to carry out maintenance and repair of Guarani VBTP-MR 6x6 vehicles for the Brazilian Army, after winning a BRL115 million ($21.2 million) competitive tender ahead of three other companies.
The Brazilian Army requires integrated logistics support for all Guaranis over a three-year period following delivery. Half of the 470 Guaranis delivered to date come into this category.
Announcing the contract on 18 February, Guarani OEM Iveco said it has been ‘successful in the last decade with the local production of Guarani, contributing significantly to the strengthening of the defence industrial base in Brazil, [which is] essential for improving the operational capacity of the land forces’.
Under the Guarani 2.0 Project, the Brazilian Army is investigating the possibility of implementing an upgrade for the platform. However, notes Shephard Defence Insight, few details have been disclosed about this potential upgrade.
