Airbus Helicopters, IAR extend H215M partnership
Airbus Helicopters and Romania’s IAR have extended their cooperation on the H215M multirole helicopter, Airbus Helicopters announced on 24 August.
Initially signed for five years, the agreement has now been extended to 15 years.
Under this agreement, IAR will become the prime contractor for the H215M for any future order placed by the Romanian Ministry of Defence to replace its ageing fleet.
The new partnership also covers cooperation between Airbus Helicopters and IAR on the production, assembly, customisation, support and maintenance of H215M helicopters ordered by Romania, plus export opportunities.
Olivier Michalon, SVP, Head of Europe region, Airbus Helicopters, said: ‘This 15-year agreement puts IAR and Airbus Helicopters in the best position to meet the future needs of the Romanian armed forces as they look at renewing their fleets of medium and heavy multirole helicopters.’
