IL-112V prototype takes shape
The first IL-112V light military transport aircraft prototype has arrived at the final assembly workshop, with the aircraft's wings now coupled to the fuselage, Ilyushin announced on 10 February.
The wing design is a monolithic construction, with a single-piece wing attached to the fuselage from above with the help of load-bearing elements and special mounts. This design concept aims to lighten the weight of the aircraft and make its operation more cost-effective.
The airframe of the first prototype is expected to be fully completed before the end of February. This will be followed by the installation of engines, systems, and aircraft equipment. Construction work on the second prototype - which will be used for strength and endurance tests - is in progress.
The IL-112V is being developed under a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defence. The aircraft is being designed to carry loads of up to five tons, transporting personnel and military equipment as a replacement for the An-26 aircraft. The aircraft has a length of 25.15m, height of 8.89m, wing span of 27.6m and fuselage diameter of 3.29m. It will be powered by two ТV7-11ST engines with a maximum power of 3500HP, and fitted with AV-112 propellers. With a maximum take-off mass of 21t, the IL-112V will have a cruising speed of 450-500km/h, maximum flight altitude of 7600m, and a 3.5t payload flying range of 2400km.
