USS Somerset to undergo maintenance
Naval Sea Systems Command has selected Continental Maritime of San Diego to perform maintenance, modernisation and repair work on USS Somerset, a San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock.
Work will be performed in San Diego, California, and is expected to be completed by June 2022.
The $32.52 million contract, announced by the DoD on 12 March, includes options that (if exercised) will raise the overall value of the deal to $38.43 million.
USS Somerset was launched in April 2012 and commissioned in March 2014.
