Saab Australia has received an order from the Australian government to continue the sustainment of the Royal Australian Navy's (RAN) Anzac-class frigates, the company announced on 24 February.

The order falls under Australia’s Warship Asset Management Agreement (WAMA), which is a strategic partnership between Saab Australia, BAE Systems Australia Defence and Naval Ship Management Australia.

The five-year follow-on programme will see Saab continue to provide combat system engineering, in-service support and maintenance services for the ANZAC-class frigates, shore support and training facilities.

Andy Keough, managing director, Saab Australia, said: ‘The signing of the WAMA is a recognition of our long-term commitment to the RAN. The Anzac frigates are the trusted workhorse of the navy and Saab has played an important role in evolving the fighting capability of the ships to meet current and future threats.’
