US Marine Corps seeks integrated helmet designs

The US Marine Corps (USMC) has initiated market research directed toward the procurement of a prototype and potential follow-on production contracts for a new Integrated Helmet System (IHS). 

Service interest in the new IHS design, which must be compliant with US ‘Berry Amendment’ material restrictions, was outlined in a recent RfI released by Marine Corps Systems Command’s Program Manager for Infantry Combat Equipment.

According to the RfI, the IHS is seen as a lightweight helmet system (including shell, suspension, retention system, and other mounting devices) that will provide an integrated head protection platform for infantry and ‘infantry-like’ marines.
