Mack wins Canadian SMP truck order

Mack Defense will deliver 8x8 trucks, trailers and armour protection systems to the Canadian DND under two contracts worth a combined C$725 million.

The contracts,announced on 16 July, cover the delivery of more than 1,500 8x8 trucks based on the Kerax series for the Medium Support Vehicle System (MSVS) Standard Military Pattern (SMP) programme. The contracts also include provision of an initial five years of In-Service Support (ISS) for the SMP fleet operating in Canada and throughout the world.  

The breakdown of the 1,500 trucks required by Canada for the SMP vehicle include: 595 Cargo variants; 45 Cargo with Material Handling Crane
