Indra has received a framework agreement to provide engineering services to achieve and maintain  airworthiness certification for the Spanish Army’s aircraft fleet, the company announced on 16 July.

The expected value of the contract amounts to $8.65 million, which will be distributed in four annuities from 2019 to 2022.

Under the contract, Indra will support the Spanish Ministry of Defence by obtaining or renewing military certificates of airworthiness across the army's fleet. This includes NH-90, Chinook CH-47F, EC-665 Tigre, EC-135, AS532 Cougar, AS332 Super Puma, UH-1H and AB-212 helicopters; the PASI-Searcher and Raven UAS, and incoming UAS.

Certification is essential for aircraft to operate safely and must be periodically renewed. Configuration of  systems and equipment must also demonstrate compliance with approved maintenance programmes, and with documentation issued by manufacturers and airworthiness authorities.

The company already provides the same services for the Spanish Air Force aircraft fleet.
