Boeing KC-46A Tanker Completes Phase Two Certification

Boeing’s KC-46 tanker programme on 3 December completed its planned Phase II receiver certification flight testing following three weeks of flights with F-15E aircraft out of Edwards Air Force Base in California.

The KC-46A is a multirole tanker that can refuel all military aircraft compatible with international aerial refuelling procedures. It can additionally carry passengers, cargo and patients.

Based on Boeing’s commercial 767 airframe, the KC-46A is built at the company’s Washington facility. Boeing is currently on contract for the first 52 of 179 tankers for the US Air Force.
