Oshkosh Defense has successfully completed modernising and delivering 535 Extendable Boom Forklift (EBFL-M) vehicles to the US Marine Corps and US Navy, the company announced on 14 September.

Oshkosh began delivering EBFL-M vehicles to initial fielding locations in September 2016.

The updated EBFL-M vehicle is equipped with several new ‘plug-and-play’ features designed to increase loading efficiencies and operator safety during missions downrange. Modernisation upgrades include forklift options to handle 7,000 and 11,000lb payloads with smaller attachments and a relocated hydraulic manifold to more efficiently load and unload aircraft including the new CH-53K helicopter.

The newly designed two piece EBFL-M cab features an armoured upper cab option for operator protection and an armoured lower compartment to house the vehicle's systems. The removable upper cab can be replaced in the field with an armoured cab without disconnecting any vehicle systems.
