DND completes dry dock work on USNS Choctaw County
Duqm Naval Dockyard (DND) has completed repair, overhaul and dry docking work on the US Military Sealift Command’s USNS Choctaw County.
DND is a joint venture between Babcock International and the Oman Dry Dock Company. The work represents the venture’s first dry docking project.
Work on the ship included complex work on hull systems, internal systems and the ship’s stern ramp. The stern ramp is a key feature of the vessel, enabling the swift embarkation and disembarkation of vehicles, stores and personnel in challenging conditions where pier side support may not be available.
USNS Choctaw County is a Spearhead class Expeditionary Fast Transport vessel, used by US Military Sealift Command for the transport of troops and material in the Middle East theatre of operations.
