RN-Aircraft orders AW189 helicopters
RN-Aircraft, a subsidiary of Rosneft, has ordered ten AgustaWestland AW189 twin-engine, medium-lift commercial helicopters, Finmeccanica announced on 20 July.
The purchase contract is valued at around $173.24 million and the helicopters will be used for commercial transportation. They will be delivered between 2015 and 2017.
Rosneft plans to order more helicopters by 2025 as part of a framework agreement signed in December 2014 with the involvement of Rostec corporation subsidiary, Russian Helicopters. Up to 160 helicopters are expected to be ordered.
The parties also agreed on the progressive restructuring of HeliVert, a 50-50 joint venture between Russian Helicopters and AgustaWestland, with the future participation of Rosneft.
Shares in HeliVert will be redistributed as 40% to Finmeccanica-AgustaWestland, 30% to Russian Helicopters, 30% to Rosneft. With Rosneft joining HeliVert, Finmeccanica will strengthen its industrial collaboration in the Russian market.
