DSEI 2013: Man-portable water purification unit springs ahead

The SPRING battery-operated water purifier built by Water-Gen has completed trials with the Israeli Army.

The Israel-based water generation system manufacturer announced at DSEI that following the successful completion of field and logistics trials, hundreds of systems would be procured.

With a weight of 12kg, the SPRING system can purify 180 litres (45 gallons) of water per battery at a flow rate of 40-55 litres (10-15 gallons) per hour.

With two extra batteries in the unit it allows the total filtration of 540 litres. A standard jerry can carries 20 litres at twice the weight.
