DLA pilots cloud-based software

The US Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) is piloting a new cloud-based warehouse management system (WMS) in an effort to simplify storage and distribution processes and better align with industry standards. 

The DLA Distribution [centre] Corpus Christi, Texas (DDCT), is reviewing the commercial-off-the-shelf WMS – the first of its kind to be used within the DLA network.  

As the manager of the DoD’s $35 billion commodity supply chain, DLA currently uses a distribution standard system to programme customer requests and software upgrades. However, that system utilises a legacy programming language called Common Business Oriented Language (COBOL).
