New Zealand orders MAN wreckers
To fill a capability gap, the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) will be adding a wrecker variant to its existing fleet of 194 MAN HX-series trucks, the latter known nationally as the Medium and Heavy Operational Vehicle (MHOV).
In 2015 the NZDF evaluated an EH/W 200 Bison heavy recovery vehicle supplied by Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicle Australia (RMMVA). This evaluation occurred at Linton and Waiouru military camps, as well as Devonport Naval Base in Auckland. However, the NZDF noted, ‘The NZDF considered the vehicle to be too heavy for its requirements.’
