NDIA 2012: Logistics contractor support set to flourish after drawdown

DHL Express expects significant market potential for contracted service provision of logistics beyond the drawdown of coalition forces from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Speaking to Shephard at the NDIA Logistics conference in Miami, DHL Express senior manager for government and defence, Ethan Mattern, said the US DoD would retain 'significant' presence in the two countries long after combat forces had exited theatre.

Describing a shift from stabilisation operations to a rebuilding strategy in both Afghanistan and Iraq, Mattern conceded: 'The drawdowns are always going to have an impact on our business but there are a lot of other markets opening up.'
