General Dynamics NASSCO to upgrade USS Comstock
General Dynamics NASSCO has announced that it has been awarded a contract modification from the US Navy to renovate and modernise the dock landing ship USS Comstock (LSD 45). The company announced the contract modification, worth $104 million, 22 August 2012.
The award will see General Dynamics NASSCO perform inspection and testing of ship systems and components through May 2013. The company received initial funding to begin modifications to USS Comstock (LSD 45) in April 2012 and began performing onboard renovation and modernisation activities in May.
Harris, president of General Dynamics NASSCO, said: ‘This contract award highlights NASSCO's ship-repair capabilities as a premier provider of maintenance services to the US Navy. NASSCO is committed to delivering the same high-quality performance across the board, in new construction as well as ship repair activities.’
