Afghans receive two C-130s

The Afghanistan Air Force (AAF) has taken delivery of two C-130H Hercules transport aircraft from US armed forces  during a ceremony at Kabul International Airport on 9 October.

The addition of these aircraft means the AAF now has six different platforms that include the MD-530 helicopter and Cessna 182 used for training, the Cessna 208 and Mi-17 helicopter for transport and casualty evacuation and the Mi-35 for combat operations.

However the C-130s will offer the AAF a new medium airlift capability to transport increased amounts of heavy loads, particularly the ability to transport vehicles across the country. The Cessna 208
