New IFF upgrade offer widens

A new identification friend or foe (IFF) modification that will be installed on all British military platforms is being offered on the international market.

If countries want to be involved in NATO operations it is a requirement to have enhanced levels of cryptographic security by 2020.

Leonardo and Hensoldt started development of the Mode 5 IFF system upgrade under the Team Skytale partnership in an initial contract with the UK MoD. The team signed a Memorandum of Understanding in February to cover the expansion into the international market.
