DRS Technologies has been awarded three contracts for programmes serving a range of Royal Australian Navy and US Navy ships, the company announced on 10 August. The total value of these contracts could reach over $170 million with all options exercised.

The company received an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract from the US Navy for the production of digital combat display systems for surface ships. The initial value of the contract, extending through 2020, is valued at over $15 million and its cumulative value would go up to $96 million if all options are executed.

Under the contract, the company will provide hardware integration, configuration, and assembly, production, testing and shipping of the Common Display System (CDS) Technology Insertion-12.

A firm-fixed-price time and materials contract was also awarded by the US Navy to provide network communications systems for Australian and US ships. The initial value of this contract is over $11 million and, if all the options of the contract are exercised, the value would reach over $28.5 million.

The company will provide installation, hardware and checkout repair as well as its AN/USQ-82(V) Gigabit Ethernet Data Multiplex System (GEDMS).

DRS Technologies has also been awarded a sub-contract with Lockheed Martin to provide parts and production hardware for the navy’s Mk 41 Vertical Launching System (VLS). The award is a firm-fixed-price order which could be worth up to $48 million on an as-needed basis. Under the contract, the company will provide programmable power supply systems and the launch control units for the VLS.

Roger Sexauer, president, Maritime and Combat Support Systems business, DRS Technologies, said: ‘These contracts represent the broad stem-to-stern, high-quality and mission-critical capabilities that DRS brings to our US Navy and international customers. Our commitment to our customers is to provide the best experience and technology at the most affordable price.’
