France asks for encore with extra CAE simulator
CAE has been awarded a contract to deliver an additional Pilatus PC-21 full-mission simulator for training French Air Force pilots, the Canadian company announced on 20 May.
The new simulator will be delivered in 2022 to the Cognac-Châteaubernard Air Base in southwest France. It is the third to be provided by CAE under subcontract from Cognac Formation Aero, which is a JV between Babcock France and Dassault Aviation.
CAE was previously subcontracted to develop a comprehensive PC-21 ground-based training system, which was delivered in 2019 and included two PC-21 full-mission simulators as well as a suite of PC-21 part-task trainers.
Cognac Formation Aero delivers pilot training for the French Air Force under the FOMEDEC programme, which involves a fleet of 17 PC-21 training aircraft, the PC-21 ground-based training system and modernised training facilities.
