General Micro Systems (GMS) used this year's West 2018 in San Diego to unveil its new ‘Hurricane‘ ultra-compact 1U rackmount secure storage server.

According to Chris Ciufo, GMS chief technology officer, the new server has three primary features: dedicated segregated Ethernet ports for operators running virtual machines; ‘on the fly’ hardware data encryption and removable storage; and complete system packaging into one small box.

‘It's a file server,’ he said. ‘It uses Intel's 22 core server processor the latest and greatest that they have. Bit it's all in one small little box.’
