Trust Automation awarded radar motion control contract
Trust Automation will supply additional vehicle automation systems for the AN/TPQ-53 (Q-53) long range counterfire radar to Lockheed Martin under a new contract announced on 21 November.
The Lockheed Martin AN/TPQ-53 (Q-53) radar provides soldiers with enhanced 360-degree protection from indirect fire.
Trust Automation supplies the motion control systems that automatically level the platform vehicle, raise and rotate the counterfire radar and allow the vehicle-mounted radar to be remotely operated within intense accuracy guidelines from a laptop computer in harsh environmental conditions.
Craig von Ilten, vice president of business development, Trust Automation, said: ‘Trust Automation is honoured to participate in creating advanced technologies that benefit our military. Trust Automation specialises in developing motion control solutions for complicated systems that have to perform in extreme climate and environmental conditions.’
This is the third Limited Rate Initial Production contract awarded by Lockheed Martin for the automation systems.
