Thales is doubling down on efforts to potentially supply the Royal Navy with its Tacticos combat management system (CMS) for the next-generation Type 31e programme, emphasising it could increase all-important exports of the platform.
Tacticos, which is developed by Thales Netherlands, has been selected by the Babcock-led Team 31 as the primary CMS for its Type 31e general purpose frigate bid.
Babcock will be up against a BAE Systems-led team, with a design that will likely feature a bespoke in-house CMS based on the Royal Navy’s current system.
