SPY-6 shows off capabilities in Hawaii
Raytheon’s AN/SPY-6(V) radar has demonstrated its integrated air and missile defence capability by detecting, acquiring and tracking multiple targets from the US Navy's Pacific Missile Range facility in Kauai, Hawaii.
During the exercise, the radar system showcased its ability to track multiple threats simultaneously, as well as a ballistic missile, through to intercept.
AN/SPY-6(V) provides advanced range, increased accuracy, greater resistance to environmental and man-made electronic clutter, and high reliability and sustainability. The radar's demonstrated sensitivity provides greater coverage for early and accurate detection which optimises the effectiveness of navy weapons, including all variants of the Standard Missile-3 and Standard Missile-6.
Now in production, AN/SPY-6(V) remains on schedule for delivery to the first DDG 51 Flight III in 2019.
