RAN subs to receive updated ISCMMS
Saab Australia has received a contract from ASC to supply an updated Integrated Ship Control Management and Monitoring System (ISCMMS) for four Royal Australian Navy Collins class submarines, the company announced on 7 March.
The contract is worth AUD$24.2 million and includes updated hardware and spares to address obsolescence issues.
ISCMMS provides manoeuvring and fully integrated ship management of propulsion, trim, power generation and ship services.
Saab Australia carried out design, software and hardware development work for the updated ISCMMS during the first stage of the project. The first stage also saw the updated software and hardware delivered to ASC, the prime contractor for Australia’s Collins class platform. An ASC team integrated the system into HMAS Collins, with HMAS Waller scheduled for later this year.
ASC will integrate the new system into the remaining submarines commencing in 2019, as they complete their maintenance cycles.
