Lockheed C4ISR for USCGC Midgett
Lockheed Martin has received a $72 million contract to provide the C4ISR system to the future USCGC Midgett, the eighth National Security Cutter (NSC) of the US Coast Guard, it announced on 27 May.
The company's C4ISR system will provide real-time situational awareness, communications and interoperability. These capabilities will allow the crew to assist other vessels in distress, track and engage targets of interest, collaborate with other coast guard land, air and sea assets and receive up-to-date information.
Ed Segrest, program manager, communications and security technologies, Lockheed Martin Mission Systems and Training, said: 'The NSC's C4ISR system integrates data from navigation sensors, communications links and tactical systems to provide an operational picture of its patrol area that enables the US Coast Guard to successfully conduct their many missions.
'The system provides the underway crew with the most current maritime data and tactical picture for effective decision making and safety in maritime operations.'
