Indra’s EC135 FFS certified
Indra’s EC135 Full Flight Simulator (FFS) developed for the Spanish Army has obtained certification, the company announced on 11 September.
The CS-FSTD(H) level D certification was obtained in recognition of the simulator's capacity for reproducing maximum fidelity, the behaviour of the real aircraft, offering top-level training, reinforcing pilots' safety and capacity.
The EC135 simulator is the first helicopter simulator certified by the National Aerial Safety Agency (AESA) to reach level D in Spain.
The system enables training on complex manoeuvres and procedures that cannot be executed safely with the real aircraft, as in the case of failure of the rotor or any of the motors. It also enables for piloting in night and day mode in any type of weather.
Through this system, pilots can be trained in using night vision goggles and performing instrumental flights. Its virtual environment recreates the tactical missions that a pilot will perform in different operations.
Tests for establishing level D of this simulator have been implemented by AESA and approved by the European Aviation Safety Agency.
Indra's EC135 simulator is installed at the Coronel Maté Army Base at Colmenar Viejo, site of the army's Helicopter Simulation Center.
