Elbit Systems simulators for NATO nations
Elbit Systems has completed the delivery of several driving simulators for the armed forces of two NATO countries, the company announced on 3 May.
Elbit Systems developed, manufactured and delivered three driving simulator types for the programmes: an 8x8 armoured infantry fighting vehicle for Piranha IIIC from GD-MOWAG; a 6x6 off-road truck for the IVECO Trakker; and a 4x4 mine protected vehicle for the Dingo 2 by KMW. All the simulators can be operated in standalone modes and in convoy training modes.
The simulators are designed to simulate various on- and off-road driving conditions. They were delivered to driving schools where they will be used to improve the training programme for new drivers and support the operational readiness of drivers already qualified for their vehicle platforms.
Elbit Systems will provide on-site maintenance and support for a period of ten years.
Yoram Shmuely, general manager of aerospace division, Elbit Systems, said: 'These high-fidelity driving simulators are part of our global land-based training programmes, which include customers in Israel, Europe and Asia.
'In this project we delivered a highly-flexible solution capable of emulating a full range of driving scenarios in both tracked and wheeled combat vehicles. The advanced fidelity, realism and immersion achieved through the simulators is further proof of Elbit Systems’ commitment to delivering reliable and affordable training capabilities to leading land forces worldwide.'
