Cubic tailors mortar simulator for the US Army
The company’s mortar trainer received improvements based on soldier’s feedback.
AECOM has received a nine-year contract from the US Army to provide rotary wing flight training instructor support services at Fort Rucker, Alabama, the company announced on 16 January.
The $442 million contract includes a 12 month base period plus option years and is expected to be complete by 30 September 2026.
AECOM’s rotary wing flight training organisation provides classroom academic instruction and hands-on flight training. The company uses a variety of helicopters and flight simulation devices to instruct the US Army aviators during their initial entry rotary wing aviator training. It also instructs US Air Force helicopter pilots during the specialised undergraduate helicopter pilot training course.
Under the contract, AECOM will provide all personnel, supervision and other services necessary to perform on-going services for rotary wing flight training, flight training support and flight training service support.

The company will operate in two new locations in the coming years to better support US services.
This type of tool provides more realistic training easing the incorporation of new scenarios that accurately represent the threats of the battlefield.
The Engineering Corps has been conducting individual instruction using FLAIM Systems’ Sweeper and should start collective deployments in 2025.
The next-generation platform is motion-compatible and can be used in OTW and NVG applications.
The system can be used to prepare soldiers for both drone offensive operations and CUAS missions.
