Taiwan struggles with minehunting requirements
Taiwan’s navy provided a successful demonstration of its sea minehunting capabilities during an exercise for media on 31 January off the coast of Kaohsiung in the southern part of the island.
The primary message, despite the success of the demonstration, was that the Republic of China Navy’s (ROCN) minehunting capabilities have reached the end of their lifecycle and must be replaced soon, or the service risks losing its ability to counter China’s sea mine blockade threat.
