Oshkosh Defense has received a contract worth US$108.9 million from the US Army for FMTV A2 trucks and trailers for delivery to the army and other countries. The number of vehicles and trailers ordered was not disclosed but may be for as many as 40 trucks and 10 trailers.
The vehicle procurement has formed part of the US Army’s modernisation programme and will also meet Foreign Military Sales (FMS) to international partners.
The FMTV A2 supports a wide range of missions and payloads and has improved armour protection, upgraded drivetrain and suspension systems over previous iterations which were designed to provide increased payload capacity and mobility.
FMTV A2 is available in a complete range of mission specific variants including 5,000kg tractor, 9,000kg Load Handling System, cargo 4×4 and 6×6, 10,000kg dump truck and 5,000kg wrecker.
Oshkosh has been receiving steady orders for FMTVs and trailers over the past two years.
In August last year, Oshkosh was awarded a $201 million from the US Army. In the previous January, Oshkosh announced the US Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command had placed a $141 million order for 414 FMTV A2 plus 56 FMTV trailers.
