Airshow China: CASIC showcases air defence weapons
The China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation (CASIC) used Airshow China to trumpet its air defence credentials, displaying a range of systems, including the FD-2000 missile for the first time.
According to information released during the airshow, the FD-2000 long-range anti-aircraft missile system can be employed for both air and missile defence and as a ‘primary weapon of the national air defence’ it can intercept various aircraft, precision guidance weapons and ballistic missiles.
‘With two-level command and control capability, it can command other air defence weapons to form a layered air defence system,’ the company claimed.
