Sparton, Ultra Electronics win sonobuoy contracts
Sparton and Ultra Electronics have won subcontracts worth $21.6 million for sonobuoys from their ERAPSCO/SonobuoyTech Systems joint venture, Sparton announced on 21 January.
ERAPSCO/SonobuoyTech Systems was awarded contracts for passive and active sonobuoys that are used for detection, classification, and localisation of adversary submarines.
The joint venture has provided manufacturing subcontracts worth $13.3 million to Ultra Electronics and $8.3 million to Sparton.
Production will take place at Ultra Electronics' Columbia City, Indiana facility and Sparton’s DeLeon Springs, Florida facility, with completion planned by June.
ERAPSCO operates as a joint venture between Sparton Ultra Electronics – USSI for design, development and manufacturing of US Navy sonobuoys and transducers. Sonobuoy TechSystems operates under ERAPSCO for all ITAR approved international sales and technical support of US specification sonobuoys.
