General Dynamics to support CHS-5 programme
General Dynamics Missions Systems has received a contract to support the Common Hardware Systems-5 (CHS-5) programme from the US Army Contracting Command at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, the company announced on 2 August.
The indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract has a three-year base period with two one-year options and a maximum potential ceiling of $3.9 billion.
CHS suports the rapid acqusition of tactical commercial-off-the shelf IT hardware and services solutions for more than 120 army and US Department of Defense programme offices, including the navy and marine corps.
The contract will ensure the CHS-5 hardware baseline leverages the most current commercial technology and industry investments. The contract also provides for technical assistance support services and logistics support for a wide range of services, including rapid repair and replacement of equipment at strategically located regional support centres as well as the deployment of field service personnel to CHS-5 user locations worldwide.
Chris Marzilli, president of General Dynamics Mission Systems, said: ‘The CHS programme is a great example of how the army and industry can partner to ensure military services can rapidly acquire C4ISR solutions and other products that are not only cost-competitive with the commercial market, but logistically managed and supported for an extended period.’
