Finland continues training reform, adds VSATs
Through the Education 2020 initiative, the Finnish Defence Forces continues to modernise the way it delivers training. Part of this process includes the wider use of virtual simulation.
Virtual Small Arms Trainers (VSATs) have now been installed at Hamina in 2020 and most recently, at Lappeenranta in January this year.
Both devices are still being evaluated and it is expected that a new software update will take place later in the year.
According to the Finnish Land Warfare Centre, VSATs are being ‘used to practise weapons handling, basic shooting and combat shooting, among other things’. The device at Hamina concentrates
