P-8 simulators to enhance RAF’s operational capability
With the first of nine Poseidon MRA1 maritime patrol aircraft now delivered to the UK RAF, preparations are under way for the installation of the first Operational Flight Trainer (OFT) that is scheduled to arrive in late summer.
The RAF has two OFTs on order, with the second due to arrive in mid-2021. Both devices, along with a rear crew trainer, will be based at RAF Lossiemouth in Scotland where they will be used by crews from 120 Squadron. Another unit to operate the Poseidon MRA1 (201 Squadron) is due to be re-established in 2021.
