Rolls-Royce to produce additional V-22 engines
Rolls-Royce will produce AE 1107C engines for the US Marine Corps MV-22 aircraft fleet under a $90.1 million contract awarded by Naval Air Systems Command.
The company will supply 40 AE 1107C turboshaft engines in total under the contract, which constitutes a modification to a prior agreement.
Improvements to the AE 1107C under the MissionCare support contract have increased the ‘hot and high’ performance capabilities of the engine, as well as increasing time on wing. The modifications have brought an additional 17 percent power to the engine and various reliability improvements.
Tom Bell, president – defence, Rolls-Royce, said: ‘This production contract reflects continued confidence in the capability and reliability of the Rolls-Royce AE 1107C engines powering the MV-22 fleet. Continual innovation has led to increases in power, dependability and time on wing as we strive to anticipate and meet the mission needs of the US Marine Corps.’
In addition to a dedicated team of Field Service Representatives, Rolls-Royce also supports the AE 1107C engine fleet through the Defense Operations Center in Indianapolis, providing 24/7 real-time engineering support for V-22 operators.
