Romania finalises $1 billion Piranha V order
Romania has finalised a $1 billion deal with General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS-Mowag) to supply 227 Piranha V 8x8 vehicles to the country’s armed forces, it was announced on 12 January.
This follows the signing of an MoU last October between the Romanian Ministry of Economy and GDELS for the licensed manufacture of the vehicle in the country.
Romania follows Spain and Denmark in selecting the Piranha V for its military modernisation, with the latter taking delivery of its first vehicles in May 2017.
According to Romanian defence minister Mihai Fifor, the country will receive a total of 36
