Pearson to assess Challenger 2
Pearson Engineering has been selected by the UK Ministry of Defence to assess up to 60 of the British Army’s Challenger 2 Main Battle Tank (MBT) hulls.
The £1.129 million contract will see Pearson complete a structural scanning assessment of the hulls with an inspection and non-destructive testing to provide information for the whole fleet management of the CR2 platform.
As part of the Strategic Defence and Security Review (SDSR), the plan is to reduce the size of the CR2 fleet from about 385 tanks to 227, which will be upgraded under the Challenger 2 Life Extension Programme (LEP) and
