Defexpo 2014: Rafael models BMP-2 upgrade solution
A model of a BMP-2 chassis with an enhanced weapon system is being displayed by Rafael at the Defexpo exhibition in India.
The company has produced the model to show its upgrade solution to the vehicle as required by the Indian Army as well as meet the weapon station requirements of India’s Future Infantry Combat Vehicle (FICV) programme.
Under FICV, up to 2,600 new vehicles will be required under a plan to replace the BMP-2 by 2020, although an upgrade of the 1,400 BMP-2 vehicles is also expected.
The model is fitted with a 30mm remote weapon station (RWS), electro-optical
