Clarity emerges on UK’s Warrior 2 upgrade
The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) is likely to green light the manufacturing phase of the Warrior Capability Sustainment Programme (WCSP) by next year, senior army officials have disclosed to Shephard.
The WCSP is six years into a £642 million development contract, awarded to Lockheed Martin UK in 2011, with the first upgraded vehicles preparing to begin an extensive trials process in the south of England.
Maj Gen Chris Tickell, the British Army’s director of capability, clarified the timelines for WCSP at the recent DSEI exhibition in London.
