Turkey’s classified SIGINT UAV breaks cover

Photos have emerged online appearing to show a classified signals intelligence (SIGINT) variant of Turkey’s indigenously-built Anka (Phoenix) UAV.

The photos of the intelligence-gathering UAV – known as the Anka-I – flying over an undisclosed location were posted on Twitter by Turkey’s Undersecretariat of Defence Industries (SSM) before being promptly deleted.

Sources indicate that the Anka-I could have been in service for six months and deployed to northern Syria, where Turkish troops are currently taking part in Operation Olive Branch. This, however, cannot be independently verified.
