Thales' System 21 in demonstration
Thales has demonstrated the ability of its System 21 modem to operate over Eutelsat commercial Ku-band satellites.
The series of tests, carried out in October, showcased the modem’s ability to bring additional resilience, protection and security for communications over Eutelsat satellites for military and government users.
The System 21 SATCOM high speed ground network solution, which features special military modes to enhance resilience, discretion and protection against interference, performed as expected during the testing, using commercial Ku-band resources delivered under widebeam and spotbeam coverage through several Eutelsat satellites.
Thales has also carried out on-the-move trials to demonstrate the full compatibility of the System 21 multi-service secure waveforms over Eutelsat resources. According to the company, the full proven compatibility of the System 21 with commercial satellites shows that increased resilience, protection and discretion can also be achieved on non-military satellites.
